"Unite with your flock against anti-people ChaCha"
Cebu City – "We encourage His Eminence Cardinal Vidal to lead his flock and join the people in the broad prayer rallies against Charter Change on December 15. Our combined prayers and actions will lead us to our salvation from Arroyo's repressive and burdensome leadership," said KMU Chairperson Elmer Labog.
KMU and its local chapter AMA-SUGBO said they are heeding the call of the Presbyterian Council of Cebu "to start widespread discussions of the issue of Charter Change" up to the parish levels. The group already started activities aimed at exposing Con-Ass, Con-Con and the Arroyo government's varied desperate ways to amend the Charter to serve the narrow interests of foreign businesses.
The labor group said they are ready to join the protests. "We are inviting all Catholic parishes to simultaneously ring their bells on December 15 at 12 noon to show their support to the broad people's actions against ChaCha. "Let us defend our democracy, sovereignty and freedom," Labog asserted.
Urban poor group Panaghugpong already started their palengke tours, mobile information teams and house-to-house campaign in urban poor communities all over Cebu City. "We will try to reach as many people as we can and inform them about the current political developments particularly the desperate measures being done by the Arroyo camp to pass ChaCha.
AMA Sugbo Chairman Winnie Badayos said they will hold anti-ChaCha petition signing activities all over Cebu. "This signature campaign will show the people's opposition to the Con-Ass, Con-Con and Arroyo's ChaCha. Workers are demanding for higher wages particularly the P125 across-the-board minimum wage increase, secured jobs, housing and social services for the victims of demolitions and land for landless peasants."
