GMA hecklers to be filed cases

The Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) Labor Center lambasted today the police, the Presidential Security Group (PSG) and Malacanang for mulling cases of alarm and scandal against the 9 members of KMU, Anakbayn and Bayan Muna who heckled Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during her visit to Calamba, Laguna yesterday.

According to Prestoline Suyat, Spokesperson of the KMU, the rampant corruption and abuse of power by GMA and the First Family is the real alarm and scandal against the Filipino people.

"The Philippine National Police (PNP), PSG and Malacanang does not have a breath of moral authority to file cases of alarm and scandal. In actuality, what is more alarming and scandalous is the pocketing of the public coffers, the continued lying, murder of activists and ordinary citizens which is something the people are not willing to forgive. We are planning to file cases against those who manhandled our members."

Suyat reiterated that continued suppresion of the basic rights to free expression by the security forces will further aggravate the already volatile political situation.

"Aside from screaming to the top of their voice, the protesters merely carried streamers and placards stating their cause. The Arroyo regime has no right to impinge on freedom of expression. While our families are going hungry, Arroyo and her family steals billions of pesos from the public coffers and this situation warrants no room for silence," opined Suyat.

The labor leader called upon other working people to stand up for truth and justice amidst increasing repression by the regime.
