Dureza’s odious prayer for GMA a vulgar affront to suffering Filipinos
“Bless the President so she would have forbearance, good health, and tolerance to lead this nation up to 2010—and perhaps who knows even beyond,” Press Secretary Dureza prayed .
The Kilusang Mayo Uno denounces the revolting and sickening Palace prayer, where the Spokesperson wished the President could serve the nation beyond the end of her term in 2010.
Wilson Baldonaza, KMU Secretary-General, said,” the Malacanang wisecrack scripted as a prayer bespeaks of the insolence and shameless character of the President and the people around her. It showed their utter isolation to reality, their contempt to polls surveys or public perceptions, their absolute delight in endless corruption and impunity for crooks, and their barefaced affront to the suffering Filipino people.”
“It would be a tragedy on this country if what Dureza abominably prayed for would be granted: more years of a corrupt administration, inutile and equally tarnished political opposition, collapse of social services, chronic economic crisis, unabated extra-judicial killings, and suffocating culture of mediocrity and impunity,” added Baldonaza.
The Kilusang Mayo Uno deems the outrageous “off the record” joke as a trial balloon for the Charter change, seen in the context of the newly elected pro-administration Juan Ponce Enrile as Senate President.
