“Even the holiday season was not spared by the gluttony of the oil cartel, as prices were hiked three times this December, adding up to a P4.50 per liter added burden to Filipinos who want a happy holidays.”

KMU chairperson Elmer “Bong” Labog tagged the big oil firms “the Grinch” of this season, after their latest round of oil price hikes on Tuesday.

“They’re really out to make our lives miserable. This season, we are supposed to show kindness and unselfishness, but the oil cartel is demonstrating the exact opposite. That’s why people can’t be blamed if we cannot demonstrate the season’s virtues of understanding and forgiveness towards the Big 3, since the price hikes are simply unforgivable and unjustifiable,” Labog said.

“Many families spent Christmas eve without Noche Buena since wages were never raised the entire year, and many lost their jobs this year. Oil price hikes, which translate to ‘all price hikes,’ is the worst Christmas gift we could receive,” Labog added.

As a new year’s resolution, the labor leader said “we have to arrest the Grinch that has been bothering us, and banish it forever. We look forward to future Christmases without the oil cartels imposing nightmares before Christmas.” #
