Labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno is relaunching a disaster response initiative to gather donations and to conduct relief operations to victims of tropical storm “Ondoy,” which ravaged Metro Manila and surrounding provinces over the weekend.

Dubbed as “Task Force Obrero” (TFO), the collective effort was first launched in December 2006 in the aftermath of typhoon “Reming,” which seriously hit the Bicol region. Relief operations and medical missions were conducted as a response to typhoon victims in various parts of Bicol during that time.

Joining the KMU in the Task Force Obrero are Anakpawis Partylist, Ecumenical Institute for Labor Education and Research Philippines (EILER Phils.), Center for Trade Union and Human Rights (CTUHR) and Institute for Occupational Health and Safety Development (IOHSAD).
