We would like to make a clarification regarding the story “Militants want Kris Aquino in Senate” written by James Konstantin Valdez which appeared in online and print editions of Manila Times yesterday, August 11.
Our press release last August 9 titled “Aquinos have fair chance in elections if…” does not call on Ms. Kris Aquino to run for senator nor does it call on Sen. Noynoy Aquino to run for a higher post. Some of the statements attributed to our chairperson, Mr. Elmer “Bong” Labog, does not appear in our PR, nor said by him in any interview.
Our PR merely stated that the Aquino siblings will have a fair chance of winning in the 2010 elections if they continue former Pres. Cory Aquino’s struggle against Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s scheme to prolong herself in power by pursuing Charter Change or by declaring martial law.
You may view our PR at www.kilusangmayouno.org. It was posted in our website right after it was written.
We hope you can give a space for this clarification.
