First, we would like to extend militant congratulations to Solidarity for grabbing the top spot in Labourstart Labor Web site of 2007. Mabuhay! (Long Live!) Congratulations also to Unison for grabbing 2nd place and to the other 8 finalists. It was indeed a tough fight. We would also like to extend our appreciation to Labourstart and Eric Lee for sponsoring a yearly labour website competition. This creates greater online solidarity among workers, unionists, labor activists and advocates worldwide.
Of course, we must thank all those who participated and voted, especially those who voted for KMU, giving us the privilege of being 3rd among the best labour websites in the world. Salamat sa inyong lahat! (Thank you to all!)
This competition is very important to us because it gave international exposure to the realities workers and unionists in the Philippines are facing at the very moment. We are currently running an international campaign to end the ongoing bloodbath in our country. Since 2001, 86 unionist, labor activists and advocates have been murdered. Just this week, 2 more workers, a teacher and a truck driver were gunned down while they were performing their work.
Again congratulations to the winners. We are already looking forward to the next year's competition.
Long live international solidarity!
Long live the working-class of the world!
