Kilusang Mayo Uno condemned today recent attempts to malign and discredit Crispin ‘Ka Bel’ Beltran.

In the online encyclopedia wikipedia.org, Ka Bel’s profile page was found to have descriptions of him as an “idiotic communist,” and a “lover of Jose Maria Sison.”

“This is a downright libelous and flagrantly foul attack on the most respected Crispin Beltran,” said Prestoline Suyat, KMU spokesperson.

“Such propaganda could never tarnish the reputation of Ka Bel, who has won a place of glory in the history of the working class and the plight of the oppressed. Their malicious and libelous attacks will only backfire to them and their malevolence and triviality will be exposed.” 

“Up to his death, the operators of Malacanang, the military, the big business and the US imperialist cannot accept that even those who do not side with ka Bel’s political beliefs cannot deny admiration for the great people’s hero,” he said.

Suyat called on the public for vigilance against the possibility of continued black propaganda. “What will be instilled in the public mind instead is the task to continue Ka Bel’s fight for the democratic rights of the oppressed and for radical societal change.”

KMU already edited the wikipedia page, and reported it to the editors of the online encyclopedia.###
