Hundreds of Manila North Harbor workers led by labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno and urban poor residents led by Anakpawis Partylist marched from Tondo to the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) office this morning to protest the series of attempted demolitions of their houses and source of livelihood.
A day before the deadline of filing of income tax returns, labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno condemned the Bureau of Internal Revenue for its one-sided focus on boxing champ and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, saying the agency should go after the richest capitalists and landlords instead.
“They’ve got it all from us.”
This was the reaction of labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno as the “king” and “princes” of contractualization once again made it to the list of the world’s top billionaires.
Workers led by the Kilusang Mayo Uno picketed the San Miguel Corporation main office in Ortigas anew today to condemn the continuing overpricing of petroleum products in the light of another round of oil price hikes.
Shell and Chevron increased oil prices by P0.90 per liter of unleaded and regular gasoline and P0.70 per liter of diesel and kerosene effective 6am today.
“It is revolting how the oil cartel, in connivance with the Aquino regime, continues to boost their already-huge profits out of workers’ and people’s misery over the overpricing and skyrocketing prices of petroleum products.”
