call for solicitations, volunteers for Task Force Obrero's relief operations

Oktubre 4, Linggo, 1:00 ng hapon at Oktubre 5, Lunes, 1:00 ng hapon --
maglilibot tayo sa iba’t ibang komunidad para humingi ng suporta sa mga
residente. Ang mga interesadong volunteer ay tinatawagang pumunta sa
opisina bago ang nasabing oras.

Oktubre 6, Martes, 1:00 ng hapon – ihahatid na natin ang ating mga
natipon at na-repack na donasyon sa Barangay Silangan. Sa nasabing oras
aalis sa pambansang opisina. Tinatawagan ang mga volunteers na tumungo
sa opisina ng 9:00 ng umaga. Pangungunahan ito ng Association of
Democratic Labor Organizations o ADLO.

Oktubre 8, Huwebes, 1:00 ng hapon – ihahatid na natin ang ating mga
natipon at na-repack na donasyon sa Malabon at Navotas. Sa nasabing
oras aalis sa pambansang opisina. Tinatawagan ang mga volunteers na
tumungo sa opisina ng 9:00 ng umaga. Pangungunahan ito ng National
Federation of Workers Union o NFWU.

Araw-araw ay tuluy-tuloy din ang pagre-re-pack ng mga natitipong relief goods sa opisina.

Record volume of rainfall and skewed government urbanization projects submerged around 80 percent of Metro Manila under water last week, while surrounding towns and provinces experienced flash floods and destruction of crop fields. At least 300 to date have been confirmed dead due to massive flooding, while hundreds more remain missing. Houses were totally submerged in water, or worse, destroyed and washed away by floods. Others deal with huge amounts of mud inside their homes, rendering facilities and equipments broken. In the face of disaster, food, power and water supplies are hardly accessible to hundreds of thousands affected by the storm.

In line with this, Task Force Obrero, spearheaded by KMU and other organizations, will be conducting relief operations and medical missions in depressed communities in the next few days.

Matinding sakuna ang dinaranas pa rin ngayon ng sambayanan matapos humagupit ang bagyong Ondoy at magdulot ng matinding baha, na pinalala na rin ng tiwaling pagdisenyo at ‘pagpapaunlad’ ng gobyerno sa mga syudad. Lampas 300 na ang naiulat na nasawi. Lubog pa rin sa baha at putik ang maraming komunidad sa Metro Manila, Timog Katagalugan, Gitnang Luzon, at mga karatig-bayan. 

Kaugnay nito, ang Task Force Obrero (TFO), sa pangunguna ng Kilusang Mayo Uno at iba pang organisasyon, ay muling maglulunsad ng mga proyektong maghahatid ng kagyat na tulong sa mga naapektuhan ng bagyo.
