Labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno condemned today the Aquino government’s expression of support for the National Transitional Council established by the “rebels” in Libya, saying the government is in effect backing the US and NATO’s military aggression in the North African country aimed at advancing superpower interests there.

Labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno, together with the Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston), Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) and Anakpawis Partylist announced today that they will be holding a nationwide protest on August 31 to condemn the overpricing in local petroleum products and the Aquino government’s collusion with the Big 3 oil cartel.
Workers and urban poor lauched community protests today in Manila, Pasig and Marikina to condemn the Big 3’s overpricing of petroleum products, demanding that the Aquino government order a P9.00 rollback in the per liter prices of oil.
That was how labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno described DOTC Sec. Mar Roxas’ instruction to the PAL management to set up a “contingency plan” should workers launch a strike in the country’s flag carrier, saying the Aquino government is not making a pretense of upholding workers’ rights on the issue.
