In the Philippines, the daily cost of living is P674/day or $13 (March '06) while the minimum wage is a mere P275 ($5). Based on the latest survey, 18% of the population cannot afford to eat at least 3 times a day.

More and more workers are becoming part of the working poor. With such a situation, there is a need for an urgent legislated wage hike. Although the P125 ($2.20) won't cover the entire minimum wage-daily cost of living gap, it will help alleviate some of the present worries of workers today.

The P125 wage hike bill is in the second reading in Congress and more than 50 representatives have showed support for the bill.

Help the workers and their families live like human beings. Support the P125 legislated wage hike.
